The HP Photosmart 8150 is a Hewlett-Packard photo printer. Introduced in 2004, the printer belonged to the company's Photosmart brand, which includes not only photo printers, but digital cameras as well. Although the Photosmart 8150 is an obsolete product from March 2011, customers can still buy the printer at online retailers like Amazon.com.
Hosting and performance
The HP Photosmart 8150, with its paper tray, holds up to 100 sheets of paper. There were several features, which included a 5x digital zoom, transforming photos using color effects such as sepia and black and white tools, editing like red eye removal and contrast, and rotating of the picture clockwise. Its internal memory is 64 megabytes.
Using a two ink cartridge print system, the print resolution of the Photosmart 8150 is 1200 dots per inch using black ink and 4800 dpi with color. The print speed varies from 20 to 26 pages per minute, depending on the type or amount of ink used.
Required configuration
The HP Photosmart 8150 is compatible with personal computers that ran on Microsoft-based or Apple-based operating systems. HP has marketed the Photosmart 8150 for XP Professional, XP Home, 98, 2000 Professional and Me Windows OS versions of Microsoft, as well as 10.1 to 10.3 of the X OS. Apple Plus, HP recommends at least 500 MB of hard drive space, a CD-ROM with 4x speed, an 800 by 600 pixel video display and an Intel Pentium II processor and G3 processor for Windows and Mac PC, respectively.
connectivity
The HP Photosmart 8150 had two USB 2.0 ports: one in the front, the other in the back. Customers used the rear USB port to connect the printer to a PC or other electronic device via a USB cable. The front USB port was designated as the printer's PictBridge: an interface that allowed a digital camera to print images directly to the printer. This avoided the need for the printer to be connected to a computer.
Customers can enjoy the Bluetooth wireless compatibility of the HP Photosmart 8150 by purchasing an adapter. They could also download and print images by inserting flash memory card formats such as Secure Digital and SmartMedia into the slot of the digital media adapter.
